Virginia B. Andes Volunteer Community Clinic Receives Bon Secours Health System Technology Grant
Port Charlotte, FL – February 26, 2015 – The Virginia B. Andes Volunteer Community Clinic (VBA) is proud to announce that it is the recipient of a $5,000.00 Bon Secours Community Grant which will be used to fund VBA’s expanding information technology efforts.
VBA Chief Executive Officer, M. Suzanne Roberts, M. Ed, stated: “We are so grateful for our partnership with Bon Secours and Bayfront Health Systems, Port Charlotte. Their continued support of our information technology efforts has helped VBA develop a full-service pharmacy operation, and a state of the art patient care system that includes the use of electronic health records, digital patient charts, and a computerized physician order system.
The Bon Secours Community Grant Fund exists to provide financial support for community health initiatives designed to promote the development of holistic health and well-being, particularly for the disenfranchised and marginalized individuals and groups of people served by Bayfront Health Systems in the Port Charlotte community.
Writing in the award letter, Sister Anne Lutz, Executive Vice-President of Sponsorship stated: “The development of information technology at the Virginia B. Andes Volunteer Community Clinic is an excellent community initiative that will provide a substantial benefit to the health of the community.”
VBA’s Director of Technology, Jane Sprunk, was especially thrilled when she heard the news that VBA had won the grant. “This grant will make a direct impact on the quality of patient care. These funds will help our volunteer nurses and physicians be more efficient and effective as they serve our patients.”
